The Story

Trying to name our little farm in the foothills of Georgia didn't take long, but the work to clear fields, grow food, and build a community of stewards is years in the making.

We started with 8 acres of horse pasture and built raised garden beds on the flattest sections. Our family, friends, and volunteers came to help us build mobile chicken coops and shuttle heaps of woodchip mulch. Farmer friends have come by to offer their time, advice, and saved seeds. We made fields into a farm!

In five seasons, we've sold thousands of pounds of food, hosted dozens of future land stewards on school field trips, and made connections all across North Georgia. The small agricultural hub we envisioned in the beginning hasn't been realized yet, but we're on our way…

Land is Life

There are more living organisms in a handful of soil than there are people on Earth. We do our best to protect all of the diversity of life, because the diversity of life protects us back. We don't spray chemical pesticides, herbicides, or use synthetic fertilizers because they decimate the ecosystems that keep us alive.

Locally Grown

Food that is transported for several days (or weeks) and thousands of miles is less nutritious and less flavorful. Everyone should eat locally grown food because our collective health depends on it.

Resilience

The evidence suggests that our environmental future will be less predictable, which threatens all of the systems we depend on for modern life. Ours is a space to build the relationships and practice the skills that make us flexible and keep us whole.
